To address the multidimensional challenge of workplace diversity we propose an innovative solution that combines approaches from four complimentary perspectives. The first innovation is a recruitment process that selects diverse candidates and assesses their level of 'fit' through a one-week, rigorous boot camp program. The second is a new-hire program that encourages faster workplace integration, and facilitates the building of personal connections with existing employees, specially catering to recent immigrants. The third is a new approach to traditional job descriptions that offers employees the freedom to collaborate and leverage their expertise to add value throughout the organization. The forth innovation is a mentoring program that connects employees across generations and departments to identify, transfer, and retain valuable company knowledge. These innovations will collectively contribute to a workplace that is designed to handle the modern challenges of an increasingly diverse workforce.

Hi,

Thanks to everyone who has voted for our team thus far! I'd like to expand a bit on our suggested ideas, since our team is proposing four separate, yet related innovations:

(1) Boot Camp Recruitment: Potential candidates attend a paid week of rigorous case-based training and two-way assessment. Boot camp is finalized with an exit interview, after which RBC extends job offers. Candidates have the option of accepting the job offer or walking away with a $750 gift.

(2) Fast Forward Integration: A 30-minute personal presentation that each new employee presents to their team during the first few weeks of work, outlining their background, interests, hobbies, family, skills, experiences and any other personal or professional information that they would like to share with the team.

(3) J2 Collaboration: Say hello to the 2-dimensional job role. Employees would still focus 90-95% of their time on fulfilling their standard work tasks and requirements. Employees will use the remaining amount of time to collaborate on other projects and become an 'expert' in a field of their choosing. To facilitate this, we recommend using the online platform Chatter, a produt from Salesforce.com

(4) Cross-Gen Mentorship: Aross-generational mentorship program, that is 'for-the-employee, by-the-employee'.  Every participant must engage in one mentoring session per month, and every participant must provide a referral at the end of the session. The key to the program is that every participant is free to choose what topics they wish to teach or be taught based on their experience, goals, and their 2-dimensional profiles.

Hope that answers some of your questions.

Please keep voting for our team, Team 4!

Gabriel
